November Chapter Dinner Meeting & Military Appreciation Night

In honor of Veteran's Day, our Nov. 12th event featured Timothy D. Kornacki, Major USMC (Ret.) from For Their Honor with a session focused on military transition into the civilian workforce in the field of Project/Program Management.

For Their Honor’s mission is to enable and produce the most prepared and transitioned Veterans that will be successful both personally and professionally. They held a panel discussion on the value that Veterans bring to not only the Program/Project Management domain but the civilian workforce over all.  They also took time to debunk misunderstandings, educate and raise awareness while enabling corporate leaders to tap into a tremendous resource.

Also in attendance were military outreach groups, including 5 Star Veteran's Center, the USO and our sponsors, Onward to Opportunity. The evening began with the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by an insightful and enlightening presentation and panel discussion. We also recognized PMI-NEFL members who have served and issued service coins from the Project Management Institute. As a PMI chapter, we are fortunate to have so many military within our membership, and the outstanding support of a community and local organizations who are dedicated to supporting those who have served. 

Proposed Chapter Bylaw Changes 2018

PMI requires that each chapter review its By Laws periodically. Your Board of Directors has recently completed this review. Proposed changes have been reviewed by PMI and are reflected in the 2018 Chapter By Laws document.

Significant Changes

1. Modified Board member term limits to allow no more than 10 consecutive years as a Board member.
2. At the recommendation of PMI, moved non-required Board positions from By Laws to policy & procedure document. 
3. Renamed Secretary to VP Administration.
4. Moved Board of Directors start date from 1 January to 1 April. Elections shall be held in January each year.

The next step in the process is for the Chapter Memebership to approve the updated document. In the next few weeks you will receive an electronic ballot from PMI. Please signify your approval by completing the ballot when it arrives.

2019 PMI NEFL Chapter Board of Directors Elections Announcement

The Northeast Florida chapter has almost 1,000 members and is guided by a Board of Directors (Board).  The Board performs strategic and tactical planning, develops and manages the chapter finances, and plans and coordinates professional, educational, networking, and social events for the members.  

If you would like to expand your leadership skills, give-back to your profession, and expand you network of local, regional, and national project management professionals, we encourage you to seek a position on the Board.   The only requirement is that you are a PMI NEFL member in good standing.   Serving on the Board is a great opportunity to leave a mark on our chapter as we continue growing from a medium sized chapter to a large chapter with the PMI network.

In 2019, the PMI NEFL membership will have the opportunity to elect one new member to the Board.   The position is for Vice President of Sponsorships.  The Vice President of Sponsorship will be responsible for working with our local community for opportunities to partner with corporate, higher education, recruiting, and other not-for-profit organizations to provide value to the PMI NEFL Chapter.   Candidates should be comfortable talking about the value that project, program, and portfolio management brings to an organization, reaching out to local companies to seek creative opportunities to partner, and working with the other Board members to understand the chapter needs and opportunities for program sponsorship.   

Elections will be held in January 2019.   The term officially begins April 2019 for two years.   The Board will work with the newly elected Board member from Election night until April on transition activities.   Involvement in the monthly board meetings and the 2019 strategic planning session will be expected prior to April 1^st.

December Annual Chapter Meeting & Holiday Social

Good Friends, Food and Fun - Facilitated by the PMI-NEFL Board Members

Come enjoy a festive evening of light-hearted networking with our members.   Besides bringing your business cards and sense of humor,... we encourage you to bring your spouse, co-workers, mentees and students to join in.  One does not have to be a member to participate in our chapter events.  The evening will feature an array of ice-breakers and networking games to keep the conversation and laughter rolling.  Come strenghten existing connections and create new ones for a prosperous new year!  ​

CAPM Scholarship

Are you a recent College Graduate? Are you beginning your journey in the PM profession and want a career boost without adding to your Student Debt?

The PMI North Florida Chapter can help. Any Chapter member who passes the CAPM exam can apply for a Scholarship to cover the exam fee.

SkillFest

The New Year brings new budgets, are you looking to begin a new role? January 07 will see the first quarterly SkillFest session, bringing together local recruiting firms and chapter members for informal networking and connection. Price, location and sponsors all to be confirmed on the website and communicated by email and social media.

Partner with Us

The PMI North Florida Chapter is seeking long-term partners to sponsor events, including Dinner Meetings, Cocktail & Learn Seminars and the 2019 Quarterly SkillFest recruiting sessions.

Does your company want brand exposure in a growing market and access to a professional and diverse membership? We would like to hear from you.

We are also looking for volunteers in a Director role to act as an Account Manager for each partner. Responsibilities will be to engage at periodic intervals and ensure the value we provide exceeds their expectations.

Habitat for Humanity

Does your employer offer you a volunteer PTO Day? Do you have a spare Saturday to help a local family? The North Florida Chapter is looking to organize two volunteer dates with Habitat for Humanity in 2019. One weekend day in Spring and a week day in Fall for networking and team building, all in aid of a great cause.
