Contracts play a vital role in project management. They are legally binding devices which, if properly drafted, define the scope of the work, the parties’ roles and responsibilities, and mitigate and allocate losses. Because of the current worldwide pandemic related to COVID-19, it is important to understand how the doctrines of impossibility of performance and frustration of purpose may affect contractual obligations.
