(Note, by special arrangement with the speaker, this is the 4th Monday in October) 2 PDU's - Technical.
Agile is not a fad, it is a reality. In today’s application economy almost every company is a software company. One of the biggest misconceptions is that Agile is new. However, there is a struggle that seems to be happening between the understanding of the Agile world and the Project Management world. What does it mean to be Agile? If we are an Agile company, do we need Project Management? Is one better than the other? Can the two exist with each other? As organizations are looking to eliminate the barrier between ideas and outcomes the impacts of how to prioritize, execute, allocate funding and resources, and embrace change amplify the need to understand the roles and responsibilities of everyone. Rick will discuss real life experiences and even how his own thinking has been transformed in what will be an entertaining, enlightening, and lively discussion.
One of the most important skills in leadership is communication. In communication, it is an agreement between the sender and receiver. However, it is astounding how many leaders do not understand it isn’t just what you are communicating, it is who you are communicating with! In this session, Rick will playfully help you discover your communication style and learn about how to communicate with the other styles. Do you know when to adapt your style? Do you know how to identify the styles of others quickly and effectively? As a project manager for most of his caree, Rick understands the ability to influence is directly attributable to the success of any endeavor. Rick will divide the room by styles and then share with you key insights on which style you need the most, which one generates the most conflict, and how to make sure your communication does not become a missed communication.
