Everyone thinks differently about risk. A high risk to one person may be a trivial issue to someone else. It is not uncommon to see people rate the same risk item on opposite ends of the scale. As a Project Manager, do you find yourself trying to drive a sense of urgency around items you think are high risk, when others in your team do not seem to care?

Good news is, you are not alone! There is a lot of research on risk perception that shows how our attitude about risk is shaped by personal experience, and social and cultural factors. We all have a risk bias at an individual level, but there are ways to harness this diversity to effectively manage risks at the project, or even at the organizational level.
