Chapter Spotlight
Our VP of Military Liaison, Shelon Pounds, MBA, MA, PMP had the privilege and honor of teaching the Project Management Foundations class to Jacksonville’s Onward to Opportunity’s (O2O) April cohort.
Supported by The Schultz Family Foundation, JPMorgan Chase & Co., USAA, Prudential, and a host of other private sector companies, O2O is a nationwide nonprofit organization with many locations near military installations across the United States that provides free, comprehensive civilian career training, professional certifications, and job placement support to transitioning service members, members of the selected reserves, veterans, and military spouses.
Every other month, Jacksonville’s O2O Directors, Patricia Piazza and Anthony Bush, facilitate weeklong classroom-based cohorts at the Wounded Warrior Project offices located on the city’s southside. Each group consists of approximately 60 to 80 transitioning servicemembers, veterans, and spouses - more than half of whom are pursuing Project Management careers and certifications.
As an additional benefit for completing the week-long program, O2O provides all study materials and fully funds students’ entire pathway to their first PMI certification (CAPM or PMP) including their first year of PMI membership.
PMI NEFL is a proud partner of O2O and is in their second year of teaching the PM Foundations class.

A special appreciation goes out to our Chapter President, John Luker, MS, PMP, MCTS, and Military Liaisons Steve Whitmore, MSISM, PMP, CSM, ITIL, and Joe Dodd, MBA PMP, for their contribution to the success of Project Management Foundations class with O2O
Thank you to our sponsor, Nova Southeaster University - Jacksonville Campus!
