We have classic BSA’s and Project Managers that seem to undergo identity crisis during an Agile Transformation. Where do I fit in? What am I supposed to do? The skills and knowledge of the people are extremely valuable, but the practices and methods need to shift to support the new delivery construct. What transitions and communication strategies have I seen that have worked? What are some of the challenges I have seen? How do we approach these challenges as leaders or team members? How has the accountability and responsibility shifted?

A few years ago, I was trying to find a way to track projects more efficiently. I wanted to be able to give stakeholders and sponsors real-time updates. But, I wanted to be able to do it in a way where I didn’t have to spend endless hours updating tasks. I reached out to other project managers to get some ideas. They were all great, there was an access database, a software tool, an excel spreadsheet, and of course Microsoft Project. However, none of those tools worked for me! Maybe you’re in the same dilemma, or maybe you have mastered this with “your favorite tool.” Let’s get together to discuss the tools we use, the pros and cons and learn from each other. Who knows, maybe your tool will be my next favorite tool!
